OUTREACH VOLUNTEER POSITION
Position Title: Outreach Volunteer
Organization: California Horse Power Coalition
Location: Arcadia, California
Time Commitment: 5-10 hours per week
Duration: 6 months (December 2023 – May 2024)
Overview: The California Horse Power Coalition seeks a volunteer to assist in the coordination of coalition activities and facilitate content creation for the coalition. This part-time volunteer role is the perfect opportunity for a college student or young person seeking to develop their experience, knowledge, and career in the horseracing industry in California. This position will provide networking and professional development opportunities, as well as the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the industry.
Qualified candidates have a working knowledge of the equine industry and a passion for the Coalition’s mission. Candidates should have strong communication and interpersonal skills, and a familiarity with social media storytelling and/or content creation. Previous experience in outreach, community organizing, or related fields is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Event Support
- Staffing events to engage people in conversation and share resources about the industry and coalition
- Identify and track upcoming tabling events and other major equine industry events
- Content Capture
- Taking real-time photos at equine events and of coalition activities
- Capturing video interviews with event attendees for social media
- Speaker Identification
- Assist in identifying and coordinating with supporters, backstretch workers, and partners to serve as spokespersons for the coalition
- Social Media Assistance
- Help source photos that are accurate and relevant to various topics and specialties related to industry activities
- Draft post language for coalition social media pages
